The New Homeschool

The New Homeschool

The following story is pure fiction.

Many parents are choosing homeschooling as an alternative to public school. Some for faith-based reasons but others simply because the correctly believe it to be a better choice for their children. Homeschools are not regulated by the state or federal agencies. They are free to use whatever curriculum and disciplinary measures they see fit. There are some parents, however, who are simply not cut out to teach their children at home. Responding to this need, many parents have begun co-ops that allow parents to receive help instructing their children; parents who are good at math, teach it, while others teach who are good at English may teach it, etc. Still, some parents have opted out altogether and setup what for all intents and purposes are their own private schools. I run just such a school; I am the administrator, teacher, coach and principle. Parents desiring to admit their children to our school must sign the following statement regarding discipline:

We affirm that corporal punishment alone, when administered correctly, is the single, most effective form of punishment for our children. We reject all who say otherwise. We understand that while enrolled at The New Homeschool our children may be subject to corporal punishment for any infraction of the rules, written or otherwise. For purposes of this Agreement, we understand corporal punihsment to be defined as the spanking (by hand), paddling (with a wooden instrument), whipping (with a belt) or striking (of a rod) on their unclothed buttocks. We understand that all corporal punishment will be applied to their unclothed buttocks as much for their protection as for our comfort, trusting that they shall never receive more than is their due and that no incident of corporal punishment will ever result in long-term bruising (more than 24 hours).

With that in mind, school is almost in session!

If you like where this is headed...let me know!
